Project Role: Professor Ichikawa is primarily responsible for ensuring that the findings of the project have direct relevance and application to schools and other educational settings. His expertise is in classroom design from an educational psychology perspective.

Project Role: Professor Manalo is Principal Investigator of the project and has overall responsibility for its successful execution. He is an expert in the development of methods for promoting successful learning outcomes, and in addressing various forms of difficulties in student learning.
This project comprises of researchers from Waseda University, The University of Tokyo, Sagami Women’s University, Seigakuin University, and Aoyama Gakuin University. Project Role: Assistant Professor Uesaka is responsible for the management and organization of the project. She is an expert in the promotion of effective learning strategies from the personal tutoring level through to the level of experimental design, implementation, and analysis.

Project Role: Dr Seo is an expert in investigating students’ cognitive process and social interaction in learning and instruction. Her interests include elucidating why many students cannot effectively use learning strategies such as lesson induction, and why teachers vary in their practices regarding the provision of explicit learning strategies instruction.

Project Role: Assistant Professor Oyama is in charge of a questioning strategy research group examining learners’ self-questioning skills. He analyzes the mechanisms and processes of questioning as these occur in learning. He also creates in-class teaching methods to promote learners’ questioning skills, and studies their effects.

Project Role: Ms Ishii’s role is to provide administrative and a wide range of other support to the research team and its sub-groups. She has had extensive experience in providing such support to other research teams and educational organizations.
